HIVES : VOLUME 1

RHETT RHODES

Everyone has their reasons for gravitating back to a particular artist. Variety being a big one of those reasons.
Oklahoma musician/rapper, and artistic creative HIVE Supremo embodies the example of variety in the most expressive and intoxicating ways, especially with ‘HIVES, Vol. 1’ which was released to all platforms last month on March 1st, 2022. We are presented with an image and feeling of determination, nostalgic strife, and hungry intent before the ‘INTRODUKTION’ is even at the one-minute mark. The project continues to carry the same attitudes of valor and much-sought gravitation-inducing variety from one track to the next. Supremo’s often rhythmic flow sticks to your ears with the catchiness of a Top 100 playlist track, making us always eager to listen through the entirety of a release. A handful of tracks were actually produced by Hive Supremo himself; the exceptions produced by frequent ‘Premo collaborators Drkmnd and LRG. The vocal lineup includes versatile performances by Maryland’s own Demetrius, The Australian XMISLED, and fellow midwestern rogue Sideshow The King. This slightly more experimental side of Hive Supremo colorfully creates its own world and stands out among the small line of Oklahoma-based musicians with its unique and imaginative guise, structure, and vibes. HIVES, Vol. 1 not only grips you by it’s variant performances, but prints an eye candy-like aesthetic with the 3D animations HIVE Supremo has posted on his Instagram as well. The accompanying glowing visuals for the songs ‘CLINGIN’, ‘on me’, and the smoothly melodic track ‘just nerves’ (which was produced by fellow Oklahoma producer and musician LRG) help further paint a picture that HIVE continues to brush.
